Reports Migration from other visualization tools to Power BI

  • The successful user adoption rate among new Power BI users is much higher than in other visualization tools like in Tableau, Click etc. This is because Its user interface is similar to Microsoft Excel which makes it easier to navigate for new users. Collaboration is much easier with Power BI since you can use Power BI Pro to create and share complex interactive reports on the Power BI.com service. Power BI offers a rich library of visualization options and enables users to add additional visualizations to their library via the Microsoft Office store, besides it gives you the ability to create your own custom visualization.

Initial steps:

  • Power BI demo reports presentation to cover all Power BI’s capabilities.
  • Delivering a proof of concept that requires to identify report source data and connection requirements, uncover all business rules around data manipulation, calculation and transformation, design and functionality that needs to be migrated to Power BI. Where Power BI could not replicate the existing system, we built workarounds.

The project output:

  • Reports with all relevant features from the existing system replicated in Power BI.
  • A basic user training to make sure Power BI becomes a helpful, user-friendly solution for everyone and to prepare reporting team members for using Power BI.

  • Complete review of all visuals used in the report.
  • Deep dive into the report measures connecting the report to the DAX Studio program to identify the source of the possible performance issues.
